MARK McKENNA'S AFRICAN DEBUT

There Will Only Ever Be One First.

Some workshops teach new techniques. Others take you somewhere extraordinary.

This experience does both.

Join Mark McKenna for his African Debut—a luxury painting safari created for artists seeking more than a traditional workshop.

Paint alongside one of today's leading wildlife artists as elephants wander through the bush, mornings begin beneath ancient leadwood trees, and every day offers unforgettable inspiration.

With luxury accommodation, private safari vehicles, exceptional cuisine, daily demonstrations, personalised feedback, and world-class hospitality, every detail has been thoughtfully curated.

This isn't just another workshop.

It's an unforgettable artistic journey into one of the last truly wild places on Earth.

MEET YOUR MASTER

Learn Beside One of America's Most Respected Wildlife Artists

Few artists have the ability to capture the quiet power of the natural world quite like Mark McKenna.

Working from his studio in Logan, Utah, Mark has built an international reputation for paintings that celebrate wildlife with extraordinary sensitivity, atmosphere and light. His work is held in private collections across the United States and has earned him recognition as one of today's leading contemporary wildlife painters.

Yet what truly sets Mark apart isn't only his artwork.

It's the way he teaches.

Known for his calm, encouraging approach, Mark creates an environment where artists of every ability feel comfortable exploring, experimenting and growing. His workshops are never about perfection—they are about learning to truly see.

Throughout this exclusive African expedition, Mark will share the principles that define his work:

• Seeing light before detail

• Creating atmosphere with confident brushwork

• Simplifying complex scenes into powerful compositions

• Understanding colour relationships in nature

• Painting wildlife with life, movement and emotion

Every day includes live demonstrations, practical field instruction, and personalised one-on-one feedback, giving every artist the opportunity to grow regardless of experience.

For nine unforgettable days, you'll have the rare opportunity to paint beside Mark as he works in some of Africa's most breathtaking landscapes—watching not only what he paints, but how he thinks.

"My goal isn't simply to teach people how to paint what they see. It's to help them see the world differently."

— Mark McKenna

“I have just returned from one of the most memorable trips of my lifetime. Taléta Willer of Workshops in South Africa has created such an inspiring and pampering experience for artists and their companions. The entire 10 days went way beyond our expectations.

Taléta brought our group to amazing venues ~ we were treated to incredible meals, visits to South African wineries, top-rated lodgings and first-class treatment for all adventures (our numerous sunrise and sunset safaris were incredible with our outstanding guide, Silas). Truly breathtaking.

Imagine Plein Air painting safely above a pond filled with hippos, sunset painting on a hilltop road overlooking an expansive game preserve, and hiking out on rocks of Mossel Bay to paint cliffs and coast … all inspired me to truly dive into my own art again and to be more aware of the incredible beauty all around us.

This art retreat was enhanced throughout the visit with the painting guidance of Tim Rees, AZ Artist and teacher. Tim has such an exceptional style of painting and shared and guided us through both Plein Air painting and with an intensive 3-day portrait painting workshop hosted at Taléta’s beautiful home and art studio.

If you get the opportunity to attend Taléta’s upcoming Workshops in South Africa, grab it! You will leave feeling so inspired, blessed and grateful. Thank you Taléta (and family) and Tim! Bravo!! “ - Maren Titmas
