by master artist
Kathy Anderson

Starting in the Cape Winelands amidst beautiful scenery, we will spend our three days painting South African flowers outdoors. Kathy will demo and paint from life and give one-on-one instruction to students.
We will then Journey inland for an exclusive experience—painting landscapes and having a wine tasting on the way to the world's ostrich capital. We will visit Buffelsdrift, a Private Game Lodge where you will spend the rest of the day, and you will have the fantastic opportunity to brush and feed the Elephants on the reserve. We will further our journey to a Luxury game reserve where we will have the chance to view the Big Five in their natural habitat. Our class will embark on private photos and sketching Safari in the early mornings. September is Spring in South Africa, and there will be baby animals on view in their natural habitat.
During these excursions, you will be able to take many references in the field, and you will have enough material to use back in the studio.
We will journey back on a beautiful scenic drive from the game reserve to a famous winery. We will partake in a wine tasting tour, enjoy painting in beautiful gardens, and have a group dinner at a favorite local restaurant.
The all-inclusive price covers all luxury accommodations, 10-day workshop instruction and model fees, most meals ( breakfast, most lunches, and dinner ), and all private ground transportation to painting locations, including to and from the airport.

Non-painting partners and photographer friends are most welcome to join. There will be plenty for you!

Kathy Anderson
"My passion for painting is rooted in my garden. I strive to translate my excitement about the experience of growth, light, and translucent colors from the earth to my canvas. Nature has always spoken to me, whether it is the rushing of a waterfall or the burst of new green in the Spring. I am awed by the beauty around me, and I love to share my vision through my paintings."
Kathy Anderson is best known for her unique interpretation of flowers and gardens, and intimate scenes of the landscape. Working in oils and painting mostly from life, her focus is on a strong design and movement in the painting, keeping the subject as naturally as you would find it. Her style is representational but goes a step further into reality, often depicting weeds in the garden, flowers past their prime, etc. Kathy is included in many prestigious private collections, is a master signature member of Oil Painters of America, an artist member of the Salmagundi Club NY, and is in the permanent collection of the National Arts Club, NYC. She teaches workshops in the US and abroad and has three popular videos. She was lucky to be able to call as personal friends two of our greatest contemporary artists–Richard Schmid and Everett Raymond Kinstler, both sadly deceased. She has spent countless years with each of them, soaking up their wisdom and life stories. “I see paintings everywhere-every flower, rock, tree, the dapple of light, sparkling waterfall –there’s no end to the subject matter for an artist when your eyes are always open.
Kathy believes in painting from life whenever possible and carries her paints on her frequent travels. While she believes that a well-trained artist can paint anything skillfully, she has found the intensity and emotion in her workflow from her love of her subjects, whether still life, garden, figure, or the intimate landscape.
Kathy says, “I view the world with a painter’s eye, finding paintings in my everyday experiences and travels.”
